New Book Reveals How Rupert Murdoch's Miscalculations On Dominion Lawsuit Cost Him Over $700M

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch underestimated the cost of the Dominion lawsuit to Fox News by a staggering amount, according to a new book by journalist Michael Wolff, The Guardian reported

In winter 2022, Murdoch anticipated Fox News would lose $50 million due to the lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems over broadcasting former President Donald Trump‘s election lies. However, the lawsuit, which settled in April, cost Murdoch a whopping $787.5m.

Wolff’s book “The Fall: The End of Fox News and the Murdoch Dynasty” also reveals Murdoch’s ire towards Trump, whom he predicted would lose the 2024 Republican presidential primary to Ron DeSantis. The book is set to be published in the U.S. next Tuesday.

Murdoch’s failed predictions didn’t end there. He reportedly said that Trump’s past would lead to DeSantis winning the Republican presidential nomination. However, Trump continues to enjoy vast leads in national and key state polls, effectively debunking Murdoch’s forecast.

The book also details the relationship dynamics between Murdoch and his former wife, Jerry Hall, and the inner workings of Fox News as Murdoch’s reign comes to an end.
