This Hidden iOS 17 Feature Gives Your iPhone A 2X Speed Boost

Apple Inc. AAPL has rolled out the iOS 17 update with many new features and improvements. It also includes a new hidden feature that can make your iPhone feel twice as fast with a simple click.

What Happened: Apple has added new customization options for Haptic Touch, allowing you to switch between fast, default, and slow response durations.

iPhone users who miss 3D Touch will perhaps like this feature, as it offers multiple pressure levels for performing different actions. On the contrary, Haptic Touch only offered one level of feedback.

Haptic Touch was also slower than 3D Touch – the first level of feedback in 3D Touch would activate quickly, delivering a much faster response. A longer press would open up new interaction options.

Four years after killing 3D Touch in 2019 with the iPhone 11, Apple has added customization options for Haptic Touch to compensate.

The “Fast” option is nearly twice as fast as the default option.

How To Enable Fast Haptic Touch

Fast Haptic Touch is available on both iPhones and iPads, but the catch is you will need the latest iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 updates, respectively.

That's not really a worry, though, since Apple has started rolling out the iOS 17 update to all iPhones, from iPhone XS to iPhone 14. iPhone 15 comes with iOS 17 out of the box.

With that out of the way, here's how you can enable Fast Haptic Touch:

  • Open Settings and tap Accessibility.
  • Now, navigate to Physical and Motor and tap Touch.
  • Here, tap Haptic Touch.
  • You can now select from Fast, Default, and Slow.
  • Tap Fast.

That's it. Your iPhone should now feel faster than ever before.
