Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) revealed plans to trade her Tesla Model 3 for a union-made electric vehicle (EV) amidst increasing tension with Tesla Inc. TSLA CEO, Elon Musk, Business Insider reported.

Ocasio-Cortez conveyed her intentions on “Face the Nation” on Sunday. She has been using a Model 3 since 2020 for commuting between Washington and New York.

Despite being the “safest way” to travel when she bought it, Ocasio-Cortez is ready to switch in light of new EV models from other manufacturers arriving in the market.

"We're actually looking into trading in our car now," she said.

"So we're looking into it and hopefully we will soon."

This isn’t her first time expressing the desire to own an EV from a union-friendly company. Ocasio-Cortez has also previously shown her disapproval of Musk, who has often been critical of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union. Tesla is one of the few major U.S. automakers without a union representation.
