'I Can't Stand How Wild This Is': Former Windows Head Is Shocked That An iPhone 15 Can Offer A Desktop-Like Experience

Apple Inc.'s AAPL iPhone 15 series has a new fan – former Windows president Steven Sinofsky, who is surprised at how good of a replacement the iPhone 15 is to a traditional desktop.

What Happened: Sinofsky expressed shock at how powerful the new iPhone 15 is, allowing him to connect peripherals directly to emulate a desktop-like experience.

Sinofsky connected his iPhone 15 to a USB hub to connect to various peripherals like a monitor, ethernet, an Apple keyboard, a pen drive, and an SD card.

"Here’s my iPhone 15 connected to a USB 3.2 hub (generic amazon) connected to: HDMI 4k output, gb ethernet, sd card, USB memory stick, Apple keyboard (over USB), and a 20 watt power supply," Sinofsky said.

"I can’t stand how wild this is," he added.

All of this is enabled thanks to the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 series – a decision that Apple was forced to take thanks to European Union regulations.

Why It Matters: The new USB 3.2 technology that the iPhone 15 Pro supports enables plenty of new use cases that were not possible earlier due to the Lightning port.

This includes features like charging older iPhones and Android phones, saving high-resolution PreRes and ProRAW photos directly to an SSD, and seamlessly connecting to external displays.

The external monitor can do various things, like working on spreadsheets, browsing, or even playing games. Apple has been touting the new A17 Pro chipset's power, claiming that the iPhone 15 Pro is "the best game console".

While the ongoing overheating issues could prove to be a dampener, Sinofsky is surprised just how powerful iPhones have gotten now.
