Radio legend Howard Stern dismissed former President Donald Trump‘s disapproval of him being “woke” with pride, stating he welcomes the label, the New York Post reported.
What Happened: Stern addressed Trump’s critical social media commentary on his SiriusXM show on Monday.
“Imagine you got to be the 45th president of the United States and you're sitting and writing about Howard Stern,” he said.
In addition to this, Stern has severed ties with comedian Bill Maher this week over comments regarding his second marriage.
Stern has previously voiced his support for transgender rights and the COVID-19 vaccine, stating, “If being woke means I can't get behind Trump… or that I support people who want to be transgender or I'm for the vaccine, dude, call me woke as you f***ing want.”
Why It Matters: This incident marks a significant deterioration in the relationship between Trump and Stern, who previously shared a close rapport when Trump was a frequent guest on Stern’s show.
Trump, previously a regular guest on Stern’s radio show, took to his Truth Social platform to lambast Stern as a “broken weirdo,” “weak,” “pathetic,” and “disloyal,” attributing these supposed flaws to Stern’s embrace of being “woke.”
Trump’s comments were sparked by Stern’s recent public expression of pride in being “woke.”
