The new service agreement between Chinese EV maker BYD Co Ltd BYDDY and Cox Automotive seeks to enhance the service experience of its truck customers.
What Happened: The agreement covers BYD’s customers with class 6 and 8 trucks within the United States with 24/7 roadside support and EV-trained technicians. There are already over 500 BYD trucks in service with customers in the United States.
“This agreement with a nationally respected fleet services leader in Cox Automotive bolsters the confidence of our customers and gives new customers assurance their service needs will be addressed by the top professionals in the business,” said BYD Vice President Operations Audrey Li.
Why It Matters: BYD has deployed over 85,000 heavy-duty battery electric vehicles globally including 25,000 trucks.
U.S. EV giant Tesla Inc, meanwhile, made the first deliveries of its semi-truck to PepsiCo in December last year. PepsiCo received a total of 36 Tesla Semis, deployed in parts in Modesto and Sacramento.
