X CEO Linda Yaccarino Reveals She Got To Know Her Appointment From Elon Musk's Post: 'I Don't Know If Any Human Could Anticipate Or Prepare For That'

Linda Yaccarino, the current CEO of social network X, formerly Twitter, confessed she was caught off guard by Elon Musk’s May post on X announcing her new role.

Despite agreeing to take the position, Yaccarino had not anticipated Musk’s early public announcement. She had yet to inform NBCUniversal, her former employer, of her impending departure, according to a  report by Futurism. She mentioned it in an interview carried by the Financial Times.

Musk’s abrupt reveal left Yaccarino in the middle of a significant presentation at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Upon seeing the post, she immediately exited the building with her deputy, Joe Benarroch.

Since taking over as Twitter’s CEO, Yaccarino has faced pressure and intense public scrutiny, which she admitted was taking a toll on her and her family.

“I don't know if any human being could anticipate or prepare for that,” she said.

Her premature departure reportedly sent NBCUniversal into a tailspin, with one executive comparing it to the “Cuban missile crisis.”
