Lucid Group Inc. LCID on Tuesday posted pictures of its limited production Sapphire vehicles, seemingly complete and under wraps for delivery.
What Happened: One of the picture shows about seven vehicles lined up and under wraps at what is seemingly the company’s manufacturing facility in Casa Grande Arizona.
In the picture, one can also see the vehicle’s sapphire blue paint peeking out from under the wrap.
“Soon. #BlueMeansGo,” Lucid wrote in the post.
Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson had pegged customer deliveries for October during the company’s second-quarter earnings call in August. Going by the timeline and the latest pictures, Sapphire should indeed hit the roads in a few days, or, at most, weeks.
Why It Matters: With its performance expectations exceeding the Model S, the Sapphire is also priced way higher at $249,000 fully equipped before tax, title, registration, and other fees in the United States. The Model S Plaid currently has a tag of $89,990.
The Sapphire can achieve 0-60 mph in 1.89 seconds, 0-100 mph in 3.84 seconds, and the quarter mile in 8.95 seconds. It has a top speed of 205 mph and can deliver both 1,234 hp and an EPA-estimated range of 427 miles on a single charge.
