Tesla Takes Cybertruck Testing To Mexico, Introduces New Accessories

Electric vehicle giant Tesla Inc. TSLA is extending its Cybertruck testing to Baja California, Mexico, while also trialing new accessories.

According to a report by Electrek, the move comes as anticipation builds for the official Cybertruck launch event. Previously, Cybertruck prototypes were primarily sighted in California and Texas, but the testing program now seems to be broadening its reach.

Notably, a Cybertruck was recently spotted in Ohio, marking the furthest eastward location where the truck has been seen. The same vehicle was later seen in Florida.

In a further extension, Cybertrucks have now been sighted in Mexico. Erik Johnson shared images on Facebook showing two Cybertrucks charging at a resort in Ensenada, Mexico, the starting point of the Baja 1000 rally.

Baja 1000 is recognized as one of the world’s toughest off-road rallies and was previously mentioned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk as a potential testing ground for the Cybertruck’s suspension.

One of the Cybertrucks spotted in Mexico featured a graffiti decal and appeared to have an accessory bar and a potential Starlink antenna. Starlink, a satellite-based internet service developed by SpaceX, could prove beneficial for Cybertruck owners seeking to go off-grid.

The latest news comes as Tesla shares traded 0.3% lower at $735.02 on Wednesday.
