Tsubame Industries, a Tokyo-based robot manufacturer, is making waves in the world of robotics with its latest creation, the Archax.

This pilotable mecha robot, standing at an imposing 15 feet tall and weighing 3.5 tons, comes with a price tag of $3 million, Reuters reported.

What sets it apart is its ability to seamlessly transform between two modes: an upright "robot" mode and a "vehicle" mode capable of reaching speeds of up to six miles per hour.

The cockpit, situated in the robot's chest, allows a human pilot to operate the machine using joysticks and foot pedals. This cockpit is equipped with four display screens connected to nine external cameras, ensuring the pilot has a clear view of their surroundings.

While Archax's design draws inspiration from anime and mecha culture, Tsubame Industries envisions a more practical role for this cutting-edge creation. CEO Tatsuo Yoshida expressed hopes that Archax would be utilized for disaster relief efforts and space exploration.

Yoshida stated: "Japan is very good at animation, games, robots, and automobiles, so I thought it would be great if I could create a product that compressed all these elements into one. I wanted to create something that says, 'This is Japan'."

Although the current model of Archax may not be immediately suited for space exploration or combat like its fictional anime counterparts, there is hope on the horizon.
