Tesla Leaves Referrers Disappointed With Brief Removal Of Coveted Rewards: 'Is Anyone Really In Charge Of This?'

EV giant Tesla Inc TSLA dropped a few much-coveted referral rewards from its list on Wednesday, only to reinstate them a while later. In the meantime, however, it disappointed Tesla referrers to no end.

What Happened: As noted by Tesla enthusiasts on X (formerly Twitter), the company removed the Cybertruck raffle, Model 3 Performance raffle, supercharger miles, factory tours, 3 months of FSD and premium connectivity from the referral program on Wednesday. The app instead only showed sipping glasses, clothes, wall connectors and some vehicle accessories, disappointing Tesla enthusiasts who were gathering credits to redeem them for these awards.

“Super disappointing, please bring it back,” a user wrote.

“RIP referrals,” another said.

However, Tesla added several of the rewards back in a while including supercharger miles, premium connectivity, Cybertruck and Model 3 Performance raffles.

Why It Matters: Whether the removal and the subsequent reinstatement of the several awards were due to a bug, a mistake or any other reason is unclear.

The momentary dropping and subsequent restatement also annoyed Tesla enthusiasts with some noting the highly volatile nature of these rewards.

“Serious question? Is anyone really in charge of this? Constant changes to the referral make no sense. Almost seems like it a new project for the new intern each week. Completely unprofessional with the random crap,” a user wrote.

“Lol it made me buy 2 500 miles right away just incase,” another wrote.

Only last week it was reported that Tesla has removed the option to redeem referral points for factory tours at its Giga Texas or Fremont Factory, merely 10 days after announcing the offer.
