Early Backer In Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Amasses $3B Net Worth, Makes Forbes 400 Debut

An initial investor in Berkshire Hathaway Inc. BRK BRK, overseen by Warren Buffett, has accumulated a wealth of $3 billion, making his way onto the Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans.

As reported by Business Insider on Tuesday, Stewart Horejsi and his family rank 379th on the latest edition of the list, published this week. This places them above basketball legend Michael Jordan, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, and Buffett’s business partner, Charlie Munger.

The Horejsi family’s vast wealth is largely attributed to their Berkshire stock. Horejsi first invested in the company in 1980, frustrated with the competition his family business was facing. Over the years, he increased his stake, peaking at 5,800 shares. Currently, he holds 4,300 shares, valued at $2.2 billion.

The remaining $800 million of Horejsi’s fortune comes from other assets, as revealed to Bloomberg in 2013. Both Buffett and Horejsi have seen their fortunes grow this year, as Berkshire shares have reached record highs in recent weeks.

Berkshire Hathaway’s current market capitalization stands at $750 billion, with more than $1 trillion of assets. The company owns several businesses and holds stakes in public companies, including Apple Inc. and Coca-Cola.

According to data from Benzinga Pro, shares of Berkshire Hathaway closed marginally lower at $5,21,675 each.
