Trump Unexpectedly Withdraws $500M Lawsuit Against His Former Lawyer Michael Cohen

In a surprising turn of events, former President Donald Trump has dropped a $500 million lawsuit against his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen.

According to an NBC News report on Thursday, Trump’s suit, filed in a Miami federal court, accused Cohen of disparaging him through public statements, including two books, a podcast series, and numerous mainstream media appearances. The lawsuit alleged breaches of attorney-client privilege.

A spokesperson for Trump stated that the former president intends to revisit the lawsuit after dealing with the “witch hunts against him”, and vowed that Cohen “will be held accountable for his unlawful words and actions.”

Cohen responded to the dismissal, stating it was a “retaliatory intimidation tactic” and confirmed Trump’s attempt to evade “routine discovery procedures”. He added that he and his legal team would now focus on holding Trump accountable for his “latest abuse of the legal system”.

Trump was scheduled to sit for a deposition in the Cohen case on Monday, the same day as a campaign event in New Hampshire. The former president currently faces multiple civil and criminal cases, including four indictments.

Cohen, a key witness who testified before a grand jury in New York City this year, is among 28 witnesses that the New York Attorney General's Office plans to call in a civil fraud trial against Trump, his two adult sons, and the family’s business.
