Trump Ally Jim Jordan Expresses Confidence In Becoming The Next GOP House Speaker: 'I Feel Very Good About That Support'

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) believes he stands a strong chance of being elected as the upcoming Republican speaker of the House.

What Happened: Jordan, during an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” was seemingly enthusiastic about his prospects, citing support from a wide spectrum of political figures, including conservative hardliners, moderates, and former President Donald Trump

“We got three committee chairmen for me. I feel very good about that support,” Jordan said.

"We've got amazing feedback and incredible feedback from our colleagues across the country across the spectrum in the Republican conference, we got conservatives to what's termed the more moderate numbers," he said.

With the Republican conference reconvening on Monday, both Jordan and Scalise will have the opportunity to present their respective cases on why they should be elected for the top leadership role in the House. A significant aspect of Jordan’s campaign is his claim that he is the candidate who can unify the Republican conference and effectively communicate the party’s agenda to the country.

“That's what we're supposed to do in politics,” Jordan said.

Why It Matters: His primary contender for the influential position is House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), the second-ranking Republican behind the recently ousted former Speaker Kevin McCarthy. However, Jordan’s confidence appears to be bolstered by the backing he has received from Trump and his allies.

Trump publicly backed Jordan on Friday for the position of House Speaker. Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, "He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"
