Mike Pence Criticizes Trump, Ramaswamy, DeSantis For 'Isolationism And Apeasement' Following Hamas-Israel Crisis

In the aftermath of the recent Hamas attack on Israel, former Vice President Mike Pence has criticized Donald TrumpRon DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy for their isolationist views.

According to a Politico report, Pence accused the aforementioned members of the Republican Party of being complicit in the Hamas attack, due to their “retreat on the world stage.”

Pence’s comments, made during an event in Iowa, signify the first impact of the recent violence within the Republican primary. He challenged his party members, who he alleges have chosen the path of “isolationism and appeasement.”

The role of the U.S. in global security is a divisive issue among Republican presidential candidates, made more potent due to the recent violence in Israel. Pence’s criticism of Trump is noteworthy given their previously unified stance on Israel.

While Pence blamed President Joe Biden for projecting global weakness, he equally pointed fingers at his own party leaders. He advocated for a return to “peace through strength”, a sentiment well-received by the event attendees.

Pence’s campaign has been marked by global engagement and support for Ukraine. This stance is not universally accepted within his party, with factions including Trump and Ramaswamy advocating for reduced American involvement in overseas conflicts.

Despite the recent violence, most Republican candidates maintained a narrow message of support for Israel and criticism of the Biden administration.
