Southern California native and crypto enthusiast, Adam J Bustamante, became the fortunate recipient of a free Tesla Model 3 Performance on Sunday, thanks to a Tesla Inc TSLA sweepstake.
What Happened: The sweepstake, initiated by Tesla last month, required an entry fee of 1,000 referral credits. Bustamante emerged as the winner and promptly received the coveted electric vehicle.
Last Thursday, Tesla reached out to Bustamante via email, seeking to confirm his contact details for an upcoming phone call. On the very same day, Bustamante was informed of his win through a phone call.
Ecstatic about his triumph, Bustamante took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the thrilling news, saying, “I won the Model 3 Performance!!!! One of the luckiest days of my life! Thank you Tesla and Elon Musk!” He even posted a brief 32-second video capturing the moment of the winning call.

However, instead of keeping the Model 3 Performance for himself, Bustamante made a heartwarming decision to gift it to his parents.
Alongside pictures of the gleaming black Model 3 Performance, he expressed his love and excitement, saying, “Love you mom and dad! Enjoy your new Tesla Model 3 Performance.”
Why It Matters: Tesla recently introduced a similar opportunity for a Model Y Long Range. Users can participate in the draw by utilizing 1,000 referral credits as their entry ticket. The winner will be selected at random in January 2024.
Accumulating the required number of referral credits is possible for Tesla users through the introduction of friends or family members to the Tesla experience. These credits can be earned when individuals use the user’s referral link to make their first Tesla purchase or even opt for a Tesla test drive.
