President Joe Biden has responded to U.S. citizens’ worries over possible violence linked to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
As per The Hill report, Biden has directed his team, including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland, to prioritize addressing any emerging threats that could impact various communities during this volatile period.
“To those Americans worried about violence at home, as a result of the evil acts of terror perpetrated by Hamas in Israel, we see you. We hear you,” Biden expressed in his statement.
He further assured that his administration will continue to fight against Antisemitism and Islamophobia.

This message from the President follows the release of the FBI’s annual statistics indicating a 25% increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes from 2021 to 2022. These hate crimes represented over half of all reported religion-based crimes last year. The data also highlighted a rise in anti-LGBTQ hate crimes, and that Muslim Americans and African Americans were also victims of hate crimes.
“The data is a reminder that hate never goes away, it only hides. Any hate crime is a stain on the soul of America,” Biden further noted.
Earlier that day, Garland announced a hate crime investigation into the killing of a 6-year-old Muslim boy in Illinois, allegedly motivated by the Israel-Hamas war. In response to this gruesome incident, President Biden expressed his shock and disgust.
