Donald Trump’s niece Mary Trump recently weighed in on the limited gag order Judge Tanya Chutkan imposed on her uncle.
The gag order limits what Trump can say about prosecutors in connection with the 2020 election subversion case.
What Happened: The gag order on Donald Trump is “making silence great again,” Mary Trump, a psychologist, said on social media.
“As Donald's chances of spending his nights in a jail cell increase, Judge Chutkan's limited gag order should leave him terrified,” she told attorney Joe Gallina in an episode of “Call to Activism.”
Her host said, “It’s safe to say Donald Trump is in serious legal jeopardy.” The judge basically said she wasn’t going to treat the former president any differently from any other defendant in any other case, Gallina said. Donald Trump is not above the law, he added.
He also hinted at the former president likely breaking violating the order.
As for whether Trump faces jail time, should he break the gag order, Mary Trump responded, “Here’s hoping.” Gallina noted that Chutkan is a strict judge.
Mary Trump, meanwhile, said nobody discusses in terms of the personal costs of the private citizens her uncle goes after.
Why It’s Important: Mary Trump and her guest, Gallina, may not be way off in their predictions.
Donald Trump, at an election rally in Iowa on Monday, called the judge’s order unconstitutional.
“You know what a gag order is? ‘You can't speak badly about your opponent,” Trump said.
Despite multiple legal cases and four indictments, Donald Trump is still the frontrunner in the Republican primary race. The former president will likely see his election campaigning disrupted due to court appearances in early next year.
