What's Going On With GameStop Corporation Stock?

GameStop Corporation GME shares are moving Wednesday and marked a new 52-week low of $13.81 earlier in the session.

GameStop shares are down more than 20% over the last month, and 20.11% of GME shares are being sold short, according to data from Benzinga Pro

Shares of GME are trading well below the stock's 50-day moving average of $17.37. 

Last Friday, the SEC adopted new rules aimed at increasing transparency which will require hedge funds to disclose their short positions each month. The SEC will then aggregate and release the data, summarized by ticker, on a delayed-basis. 

SEC chair Gary Gensler stated Friday, "Given past market events, it’s important for the (SEC) and the public to know more about short sale activity in the equity markets, especially in times of stress or volatility."

GME Price Action: According to Benzinga Pro, GameStop Corporation shares are down by less than 1% at $14.07 at the time of publication.
