Amazon.com Inc. AMZN founder Jeff Bezos has an entertaining side to him – he likes, or at least likes to, review the products he bought on his own website.
What Happened: Bezos' old reviews on Amazon have surfaced, with some of these reviews being so entertaining that they have now gone viral on social media.
Bezos' reviews include those of Tuscan dairy milk and binoculars from Canon Inc. CAJFF. However, what he thought of these products has intrigued social media more than what he bought.
Bezos was also kind enough to let us know he loves milk. His review of Tuscan dairy milk was quite cheeky, however. "I love milk so much that I've been drinking it since the day I was born. I don't think it was Tuscan, though," he said.
The unearthed Amazon profile of Bezos also shows he's a fan of books – out of the six reviews, three were for books by Cory Doctorow, George Dyson, and G Bruce Knecht.
Bezos' reviews also give a peek into the mind of the third-richest person in the world. He has simple pleasures – including something as basic as milk, to tear-jerkers like the Oscar winner "Life is Beautiful".
He is also quite kind with his words. His review for "Life is Beautiful" reads: "This movie is absolutely all it’s cracked up to be. Hysterically funny and simultaneously a tear-jerker – it’s ultimately very uplifting. The cinematography is also fantastic – amazing use of color."
Fan Of Technology
Bezos is no stranger to technology, and that is evident from not only the behemoth that his creation, Amazon, is now. His review of a pair of Canon binoculars shows he understands how technology can solve even basic problems like unstable human hands.
"The problem with high power binoculars is that humans can’t hold them steady, and that jitter makes it impossible to really look at something without a tripod," Bezos said in his review, explaining the problem with binoculars that lack image stabilization.
"The image stabilization in this pair solves that problem and holds things rock steady. This is an expensive product that clearly distinguishes itself, and one of those products that technology makes seem a little magic," he added.
The usefulness of image stabilization is also evident from how good modern smartphones are at both photos and videos compared to older ones, which did not always support features like optical image stabilization (OIS). Nobody likes videos that are not stable, and that is evident from the fact that Bezos' binocular review was also his most popular one.
