In a recent statement, the VP of Google GOOGL GOOG Cloud’s global AI business, Philip Moyer, argued that artificial intelligence (AI) will eliminate tedious tasks and make work more satisfying. This contradicts fears that AI could lead to widespread job losses.
According to Business Insider reports, Moyer suggested that generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Bard will likely boost job satisfaction and productivity.
“I think satisfaction and proficiency is where AI is actually going to have the most profound impact,” Moyer said.
“If you look at people’s job satisfaction when using generated AI, the studies that are coming out of companies that are trying it, almost 80-90% of people are consistently saying yes. This has made my job better,” he added.

He also mentioned that AI could transform sectors like finance, invoicing, and medicine that involve significant administrative work. Moyer also expressed that it’s inevitable that companies will adopt this technology, as employees are now “waiting for AI to show up.”
Despite concerns about AI leading to job losses, a study from the National Bureau of Economic Research found that generative AI boosted productivity and improved employee morale. Oded Netzer, a professor at Columbia University, compared AI to the introduction of ATMs, which while eliminating some jobs, created many others.
