Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Is The Least 5-Star Rated Model Since The iPhone 8, According To Nearly 700K Reviews

Apple Inc.'s AAPL iPhone 15 Pro is the least 5-star rated model since the iPhone 8 that was launched six years ago, according to an analysis of 695,000 customer reviews.

What Happened: The iPhone 15 Pro has been rated five stars by only 72% of the buyers in the first month since its launch, according to an analysis of 695,000 reviews by PerfectRec.

While having 72% 5-star reviews sounds like a high number, this is the lowest for any iPhone model since the iPhone 8 launched in 2017.

The number of people who have posted 5-star reviews for iPhones has been dropping for two generations now – both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 have seen a sharp decline in 5-star reviews, compared to the iPhone 13.

The iPhone 15 Pro's 5-star ratings have dropped 12% points when compared to the iPhone 13 Pro. It now has the lowest 5-star ratings across seven generations of iPhones.

iPhone 15 sales in China have also been reportedly on the decline. Some estimates peg it as a “sharp double-digit” fall when compared to the iPhone 14 series.

Why It Matters: Apple has boasted about customer satisfaction for a long time now. In its March quarter earnings, the company said iPhone 14 series satisfaction stood at 98%.

While 5-star customer reviews is a different metric, it does tell us how many people like their new iPhone. For instance, the iPhone 14 Pro's 5-star ratings fell 8% points to 76%, from 84% for the iPhone 13 Pro.

Multiple issues with the iPhone 15 Pro series, like overheating, paint chipping, display burn-in and the phone just being fragile, could have contributed to the increased negative perception of Apple's latest flagship.

We should know about the iPhone 15 series' satisfaction in Apple's next earnings call.
