After Two Months, Elon Musk Is Again Talking About His 'Cage Match' With Mark Zuckerberg: 'I'm Willing To Fight…'

More than two months after Mark Zuckerberg said that it is “time to move on” from the debacle of a much-anticipated “cage match” between him and Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO has once again expressed his willingness to fight with the Meta CEO.

What Happened: The latest chapter in the saga of a potential “cage match” between the two billionaire CEOs unfolded on a Thursday when Dogecoin DOGE/USD Billy Markus, popularly known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a meme-video, saying, “zuck training for his fight against elon.”

Musk responded with tons of emojis and said, “I’m willing to fight anywhere, anytime, any rules, but all I hear is crickets from Zuck.”

This drama began back in June when Musk took to Twitter and challenged Zuckerberg to a physical showdown. At first, the Meta CEO enthusiastically responded to Musk’s challenge, even inquiring about the event’s location.

However, Zuckerberg’s initial enthusiasm gradually waned. In August of the same year, he took to Threads and suggested that he was ending the idea.

At the time, he also expressed his doubts about Musk’s sincerity in the matter, stating, “It’s evident that Elon’s intentions are not earnest, and it’s best to discontinue this endeavor.”

However, Musk retorted by referring to Zuckerberg as a “chicken.”

Why It’s Important: The rivalry between these two tech moguls intensified after Meta decided to launch Threads, a text-based conversation app, which was dubbed as “Twitter killer.”

Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022 and subsequently rebranded it to X.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, during Meta’s third-quarter earnings call, Zuckerberg revealed that Threads had amassed just under 100 million monthly users since its launch in July.

This revelation raised eyebrows, as it was previously reported that Threads had witnessed a considerable decline in active users, dropping from 3.3 million in July to 1.1 million in the first half of September.
