Donald Trump Berates New York Civil Fraud Trial Judge After Getting Hit With $10K Fine Over Violating Gag Order: 'He's Gone Crazy'

Former President Donald Trump berated the judge in his New York civil fraud trial on Thursday after he was fined $10,000 for breaching a gag order imposed by the court.

What Happened: Trump, in a Truth Social post, responded to the fine by accusing the judge of having “gone crazy in his hatred.”

Trump described the judge as “unhinged” and “highly political and fully biased Trump Hater” in another post on Truth Social.

"The Judge in the New York State A.G. case refuses to accept the overturning of his decisions by the Appeals Court. This is a first in the history of the State! HE HAS GONE CRAZY IN HIS HATRED OF "TRUMP." Also, their "STAR" witness just admitted his statements were all a big lie. He broke down in court. The Radical Left Judge said he doesn't care. He is trying to protect RACIST A.G. Letitia James, who has no case, lost the appeal, but has a tyrannical and unhinged Trump Hating Judge. She campaigned for A.G. on, "I Will Get Trump," long before she knew anything about me. This is Judicial Misconduct, coupled with Prosecutorial Misconduct, and somebody from the State of New York must step in and stop this Complete & Total Miscarriage of Justice!" Trump wrote.

Why It Matters: Trump took the witness stand on Wednesday to answer questions from Judge Arthur Engoron about an alleged violation of a gag order. The order prohibits Trump and other parties in the case from discussing the judge’s staff.

The violation was connected to a comment Trump made about a “very partisan judge with a partisan person sitting alongside him.”

The judge inferred that Trump was referring to his principal law clerk. However, Trump denied this, claiming he was referring to his former fixer, Michael Cohen, who is a key witness in the case.

Trump was previously fined $5,000 for violating the order after he failed to remove a post from his campaign website within the stipulated period.

The lawsuit, filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James, accuses Trump, the Trump Organization and Trump’s sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr of more than a decade of financial fraud.
