Trump's Son-In-Law Jared Kushner Says American Jews 'Safer' In Saudi Arabia Than US Colleges Amid Israel-Hamas War

Former advisor and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner asserted that American Jews are safer in Saudi Arabia than on U.S. college campuses amid escalating tensions over the Israel-Hamas conflict.

What Happened: Kushner, on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, said, “One of the ironies is that, as an American Jew, you're safer in Saudi Arabia right now than you are on a college campus like Columbia University.”

"I spoke at the conference. They allowed me to speak freely," Kushner said, commenting on his recent visit to Saudi Arabia. He added that there was a “very big disgust” against the terrorist attacks by Hamas.

Why It Matters: The Israel-Hamas dispute has triggered a wave of protests and rallies on college campuses across the nation. Columbia University in New York had to close its campus earlier this month due to safety concerns arising from these rallies.

University administrations have faced criticism over their handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict. Students have accused their institutions of not condemning the violence adequately. High-profile colleges such as Harvard University and Yale University have been at the center of these controversies.

The Israel-Hamas conflict, ongoing for more than three weeks, has resulted in significant loss of life and property. The fighting began with a bloody incursion by Hamas into Israel, killing more than 1,400 Israelis, and Israel’s subsequent counteroffensive has led to over 8,000 Palestinian deaths, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
