Lucid vs. Tesla: Which Electric Car Maker Offers A More Rewarding Referral Program

EV maker Lucid Group Inc LCID started a referral program on the lines of EV giant Tesla Inc TSLA last week. But who has a more rewarding program?

Lucid VS Tesla Referral Programs: Under a referral program, current owners of the brand can recommend friends or family to purchase products and receive referral points in turn. These referral points can then be exchanged for rewards offered by the company.

The different rewards offered by Lucid include a tour of the company’s factory in Casa Grande, Arizona. The reward includes flights for two and two-night hotel accommodation. Likewise, one can also get a tour of Lucid headquarters for 50,000 points. On the downside, to gather so many points, a customer will have to refer five persons to purchase a Lucid Air GT which starts from $125,600.

Other rewards offered by Lucid includes a limited-edition sketch of the Lucid Air signed by CEO Peter Rawlinson and other vehicle or personal accessories including a home charging station, crossbars, car covers, floor mats, jackets, sweatshirt or even a backpack.

Last month, Tesla added factory visits under referral rewards. Users with 15,000 referral credits could redeem them for a walking tour of Tesla's Gigafactory in Austin, Texas or its Fremont Factory in California. On redemption, the Tesla account holder and three other guests can take the tour. However, the offer was dropped in a few days for reasons unknown.

With Tesla, these rewards are ever-changing. One could purchase supercharging miles or even an invite for its upcoming product launch event, depending on what is available at the point. In August, the EV giant offered its customers the option to redeem 30,000 credits for an invitation to its Cybertruck delivery event scheduled for November at giga Texas. However, no vehicle by Tesla is priced over $100,000. The most high-end vehicle in the lineup is the Model X Plaid priced at $94,990.

Going Forth: However, given that Lucid referral program is brand new, it is too early to gauge its trajectory. Tesla, however, launched its referral program in 2015.

A successful referral program would mean more sales for Lucid and a loyal customer base.
