In her latest social media post, X CEO Linda Yaccarino made a comment involving Mariah Carey and the holiday season, and now she is being accused of trying to distract people from her microblogging site’s troubles.
What Happened: According to Business Insider, Yaccarino, known for her cryptic social media posts, retweeted a video of Carey marking the start of the festive season.
The post read: “Pumpkin Spice Latte, I don’t know her! It’s @MariahCarey TIME!!!”
Yaccarino’s post alluded to a famous early 2000s quote by Carey, while the video signified the shift from fall to the holiday season.

According to the report, the post had “divorced dad energy,” and it was posted a day after Elon Musk, her superior, was featured on the Joe Rogan Experience, discussing a series of contentious topics.
Meanwhile, X (formerly Twitter) has been going through financial instability, losing about $70 million daily since Musk’s takeover, plummeting its value from $44 billion to $19 billion.
Despite this, Yaccarino recently stated in a blog post that X’s “future is bright.”
Why It Matters: Yaccarino’s controversial social media presence comes amidst a challenging time for X.
Previously, it was reported that most significant global advertisers had abandoned X, contradicting claims by Musk and Yaccarino about the platform’s thriving advertisement sector.
Yaccarino made major headlines in September when, during an interview at Vox Media’s Code 2023 conference, she inadvertently showed her iPhone home screen to the world, and it didn’t feature the X app, while rival platforms Facebook and Instagram were prominently displayed.
