Advanced Micro Devices, Inc AMD has been hitting the headlines as one of the most potent rivals of artificial intelligence kingpin Nvidia Corp NVDA.
Now, reports claim that Nvidia and AMD supplier Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd SSNLF have tapped AMD and Qualcomm Inc QCOM to develop FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) jointly.

FSR braces to rival Nvidia's DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), the industry's leading spatial upscaling technology for PC games.
The technology induces a game's graphics at a lower resolution to improve frame rates and then uses AI to upscale the resolution.
The feature will likely come to the company's next-generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24.
With FSR and higher graphics firepower than the previous generation, the next-generation mobile chips can accomplish gaming performance goals even with raytracing turned on.
Raytracing enhances gaming graphics by simulating real-world lighting. But it also requires substantial processing resources, often challenging even high-end GPUs. To maintain smooth gameplay, technologies like DLSS and FSR support raytracing by optimizing frame rates.
The Apple Inc AAPL A17 Pro and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips include raytracing capabilities, which, when paired with upscaling technologies like MetalFX and GSR, enable mobile devices to run raytracing-enabled games smoothly.
The Galaxy S24, depending on the region, comes equipped with either the Exynos 2400 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the latter of which features GSR, indicating that the Exynos 2400 may also possess a comparable AI-driven frame upscaling function.
Price Action: AMD shares traded higher by 0.12% at $112.38 on the last check Monday.
