Apple Airtag Aids Windsor Man In Recovering Stolen Car

A Windsor resident, Saamer Mansoor, recovered his stolen car, thanks to an Apple AAPL AirTag.

According to a CTV News report, Mansoor had installed the small tracking device in his car six months prior, inspired by stories of its effectiveness in retrieving stolen vehicles in Toronto. However, he never anticipated needing it as he always took precautions with his vehicle.

Mansoor’s car went missing following a chaotic Saturday when he was preoccupied with his sick toddler son. He inadvertently left the driver’s side window open and when his brother inquired about the car’s whereabouts the next morning, Mansoor soon realized it had been stolen.

Upon checking the AirTag app, Mansoor discovered his car was located at a motel on Huron Church. Accompanied by his brother, he proceeded to the said location while dialing 911. The Windsor police have confirmed the details of this incident to CTV News and stated that the investigation is ongoing.

Most of the belongings inside the car were retrieved along with the vehicle. Mansoor hopes his experience will serve as a cautionary tale to others, reminding them to be careful even amidst family emergencies or other distractions.
