Waiting For 27-inch iMac With Apple Silicon? Cupertino Has No Plans To Introduce It For Now

Apple Inc. AAPL won't be making a refreshed version of the 27-inch iMac with Apple Silicon, but something else is in the pipeline.

What Happened: On Monday, Cupertino's PR representative, Starlayne Meza, confirmed that the tech giant isn't developing the 27-inch iMac, instead intends to focus on the 24-inch model that was updated with the new M3 chip earlier this year, reported The Verge.

For the unversed, Apple discontinued its 27-inch iMac equipped with Intel Technologies processor last year.

Consumers who want a larger iMac may consider the Studio Display, Mac Studio, or Mac Mini, which basically comes with a 27-inch 5K screen with a separate computer.

Earlier, Apple CEO Tim Cook reaffirmed during the company's fourth-quarter earnings call that the tech giant doesn't see a "path back" to chip vendors

Why It's Important: According to the report, the confirmation by Apple seems to suggest that the company doesn't intend for the iMac lineup to develop into "anything more than a family computer or to look pretty at the reception desk of trendy retail stores or spas."

Last month, during Apple's "Scary Fast" Halloween event, the company introduced a refreshed iMac model, which starts at $1,299 with an eight-core CPU or $1,499 with a 10-core chip.

The device has been open for preorders and will be available starting Nov. 7.
