Amazon Prime Members Get Exclusive Healthcare Perks with One Medical Subscription at Fraction of Cost

Amazon.Com, Inc AMZN made U.S. healthcare provider One Medical’s suite of benefits accessible for Prime members for a fee. 

Interested Prime members in the U.S. can access unlimited, on-demand virtual healthcare via One Medical, the subscription-based group that Amazon acquired in 2022.

The members can also schedule in-person appointments to pay upfront or get coverage under insurance. 

The subscription will pinch Amazon Prime members $9 per month or $99 per year, a big discount versus the standard One Medical subscription fee of $199 per year. 

That fee comes on top of the $139 per year, or $14.99 monthly, price for a Prime subscription. 

The move marks Amazon’s latest effort to leverage its loyal base of Prime members and tap the healthcare industry, Financial Times reports. 

In January, following its 2018 acquisition of mail-order pharmacy PillPack, Amazon launched RxPass, enabling Prime members to order an unlimited amount of some unbranded prescription medications for $5 a month. 

It has also rolled out a “Clinic” telehealth service before shelving it in August 2022 under its cost control measures. 

George Hill of Deutsche Bank flagged that until Amazon wants to become a ‘B2B’ healthcare company, they will not be able to access the vast majority of spending in the U.S. 

The conglomerate slashed 27,000 jobs and remained engaged in the organizational restructuring of its various divisions, including grocery and logistics while integrating artificial intelligence technology in every division.

Price Action: AMZN shares traded lower by 0.49% at $142.01 on the last check Tuesday.
