Valve Corporation announced the release of the highly-anticipated “Steam Deck OLED.” The latest offering from the company features substantial upgrades from its predecessor, including HDR support and extended battery life.
According to a report by GSMArena, Valve Corporation, the creator of the prominent gaming PC platform “Steam,” introduced an updated version of its handheld gaming PC, named the “Steam Deck.” The enhanced Steam Deck OLED replaces LCD screens with OLED and offers HDR support as well as an impressive brightness capacity of up to 1,000 nits.
The “Steam Deck OLED” is slated for availability from Nov. 16. Gaming enthusiasts can opt between a 512GB storage option priced at $549, or a 1TB option at $649. The 256GB LCD model is now more affordable at $399, serving as the entry-level offering, while the 64GB and 512GB LCD versions are being phased out.
The newly launched “Steam Deck OLED” boasts a 1280×800 resolution on its 7.4″ diagonal display, a 90 Hz refresh rate, a 6 nm APU, 16GB of 6400MHz LPDDR5 RAM, support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, and a 50Wh battery promising 3-12 hours of gameplay. In a notable improvement from the LCD models, the battery life of the new device is projected to last 30-50% longer, as per Steam’s statement.
