Trump's Attorney Announces Plans To File For Mistrial In New York Fraud Case: 'Very Soon'

Former President Donald Trump‘s attorney, Alina Habba, plans to file for a mistrial “very soon” in the New York fraud case.

As reported by The Hill, Habba expressed concern over the same judge presiding over the motion. Trump has publicly criticized the judge and the judge’s clerk, claiming political bias.

"It's a bench trial. We have one judge. And it's the same judge that issued the gag order that has to make those determinations. So, at this point, I don't have any reason to believe he shouldn't after what we have learned, if it's true," Habba added.

Judge Arthur Engoron, who has previously fined Trump for violating a gag order, will decide on the motion. Habba, citing the gag order, declined to comment on Trump’s concerns over the judge and clerk.

Habba stated that the defense team would be addressing all these issues in the upcoming filings. She affirmed that the filings for a mistrial would be made “soon,” and then “very soon.”

The lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James alleges that Trump’s company manipulated the value of its assets for tax and insurance benefits. Trump and his sons, also named in the lawsuit, have denied these claims.
