Son of U.S. President Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, could be facing serious legal challenges as a California grand jury is being used in a special counsel’s investigation against him, warns a senior legal analyst.
What Happened: During an “Anderson Cooper 360” interview, Elie Honig, senior legal analyst at CNN, shared concerns about the implications of Hunter Biden’s investigation on Thursday.
“It’s bad news for Hunter Biden any way you slice this,” Honig said.
This came after a report released on Thursday details that special counsel David Weiss intends to leverage the California grand jury to amass documents and testimonies from potential witnesses. This move is part of an ongoing federal probe into the Biden family’s business dealings.
The core of the Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation seems to center around Biden’s supposed failure to adhere to IRS tax deadlines.

Honig speculated that Biden might face new charges beyond the gun charges already filed in Delaware. He remarked, “If we think about the potential tax charges here… that feels like the minimum charges he may face.”
Why It Matters: Previously, Biden was scheduled to plead guilty to tax charges and settle a gun charge at a hearing in Delaware on July 26. However, the agreement unraveled when the judge questioned the terms and Biden’s comprehension of the deal.
Interestingly, Weiss had previously employed a federal grand jury in the Delaware investigation. The evidence gathered by the Delaware grand jury might be utilized in a different federal court, as per the CNN report.
In a parallel development, Republican lawmakers are also striving to investigate the Biden family’s business transactions and begin impeachment inquiries into the president.
The investigation into Hunter Biden’s affairs is not only a personal matter for the Biden family but also has political implications. With Republican members of Congress pushing for impeachment inquiries into President Biden, the outcome of this investigation could impact the political landscape.
