Mark Cuban Says Billionaires Who Say They Could Start From Scratch Are 'Lying Their A** Off'

Starting from scratch is never easy and Mark Cuban says billionaires who say they would do it all over again if they could, are "lying their a** off".

What Happened: The Dallas Mavericks owner and one of the main ‘Sharks' on ABC's realty television series Shark Tank, Cuban stressed that luck plays an important role in an individual's success.

Starting from scratch is never easy, but doing so after tasting success once is even more difficult.

"Anybody who has a ‘B' next to their name, and they tell you they could do it all again, they're lying their a** off," Cuban told GQ in an interview.

Cuban currently has a net worth of $6.2 billion.

Despite his confidence in his ability to rebuild a comfortable life, Cuban questioned the claim of any billionaire who says they could regenerate their entire wealth, calling it a lie.

He emphasized the significant role of luck and timing in amassing fortune. Cuban credited the success of his startup, MicroSolutions, and his decision to sell most of his shares in Broadcast.com to Yahoo before the dotcom bubble burst, to favorable timing.

Reflecting on his journey, Cuban stressed the importance of luck and timing. "If I would have been born three years earlier, three years later, we probably would not be having this conversation," he said.

Why It Matters: Cuban discussed the significant role of disrupting industries and taking the right advice at the right time.

These insights from Cuban, who has experienced the journey from being a young entrepreneur to becoming a billionaire, offer valuable perspective for aspiring entrepreneurs and those interested in understanding the dynamics of wealth creation.
