Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) publicly invited Jimmy Kimmel for an on-screen duel after the late-night TV host’s criticism of the GOP congresswoman during a recent show.
What Happened: Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday took a jab at Greene’s newly launched book “MTG” on his show, labeling her as “not a bright woman.”
“She says very stupid things on a daily basis,” he had said.
In retaliation, Greene took to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, issuing a challenge for Kimmel to invite her to his show. “Hey [Jimmy Kimmel], since most of your show content is your nonstop lies about me, why don't you have me on your show?” she posted.
"I'll bring you a copy of my book and we can chat about what needs to happen to SAVE AMERICA!"
Why It Matters: Although featuring MAGA enthusiast Greene on Kimmel’s show would undoubtedly generate controversy, it is not entirely implausible. This is despite the fact that Greene reported Kimmel to the police last year over one of his jokes about her.
Kimmel has played host to contentious figures in the past, such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Donald Trump ally MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.
Meanwhile, critics lampooned Greene’s post just as much as her new memoir, published by Donald Trump Jr.’s Winning Team Publishing.
