Apple Inc. AAPL is continuing with its mission to make it easier to repair its products after supporting the Right to Repair bill.
What Happened: Apple has launched a new online diagnostic tool that allows its customers to remotely check and repair their iPhones and MacBooks from the comfort of their homes.
The new diagnostics tool is web-based and users will have to install it on their computer. Once done, users will have to plug in their iPhone or MacBook and follow the on-screen instructions to begin the process.
Apple has added support for the iPhone 15 series – iPhone 12 and later are all supported.
Apart from this, M2-powered MacBooks, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, and the Mac Studio are all covered now.

What's more interesting is the fact that Apple now lets users to self-repair their iPhones and MacBooks, going beyond the diagnostics feature. However, to do this, you will need to know what you are doing.
While this might be too complex to most users, it will help third-party service providers access to the same tools that Apple's authorized service providers. This should help improve the quality of support that third-party service providers can offer.
Apple's self-service repair tools are now available in 33 countries, 24 languages, and 35 products from the company.
Why It Matters: After initially opposing the Right to Repair bill, Apple eventually supported it. The Tim Cook-led company said it protects consumers and intellectual property of companies, making it a win-win proposition.
Its rival, Alphabet Inc.'s GOOG GOOGL Google, has also pushed the popularity of the Right to Repair movement. It provides industry-leading seven years of software updates and support for its latest phones, the Pixel 8 series.
