Hedge fund manager David Tepper, the owner of Carolina Panthers of the National Football League, was involved in an unsavory incident on Sunday after his team received a drubbing at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

What Happened: In a video shared on Instagram, Tepper was seen throwing a drink in the direction of Jaguars fans zone from his open-air suite at EverBank Stadium. The frustrated reaction came after the Panthers slumped to their fourteenth defeat of the season, Marca reported.

ESPN said it occurred about 3 minutes to play after an interception by quarterback Bryce Young.

Why It’s Important: On Sunday, the Charlotte, North Carolina team went down to the Jaguars by a margin of 26-0. This is reportedly the worst performance by the Panthers since Nov. 20, 2022, when they scored three points against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Athletic’s Joe Person said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that an NFL spokesperson said the league was aware of the incident. “We are aware of the video and have no further comment at this time,” the spokesperson reportedly said.

Tepper founded the hedge fund Appaloosa Management in 1993. The fund invests in global public equity and fixed income markets. His net worth is about $18.5 billion, Forbes said in a April 2023 article. He was ranked fourth in the list of richest hedge fund managers by the magazine.
