Trump's New Year Offensive: Ex-President Renews Attacks On Biden, 2020 Election Obstruction Case

Former President Donald Trump kicked off the New Year with a blatant attack against President Joe Biden and his pending federal election interference case, while Biden conveyed a more hopeful vision for the future of America.

What Happened: On the very first day of the year, Trump took to his platform on Truth Social to contest the federal election interference case brought against him by special counsel Jack Smith.

In his post, Trump also leveled accusations against Biden, alleging that the incumbent president has committed numerous “ACTUAL CRIMES.”

"REMEMBER, if I don't have Presidential Immunity, then Crooked Joe Biden doesn't have it either, and he would certainly be Prosecuted for his many ACTUAL CRIMES," Trump wrote.

In stark contrast, President Biden, during an interview with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, shared an optimistic outlook for the forthcoming year. He affirmed America’s robust position to lead the world and acknowledged the creation of more than 14 million jobs. His New Year’s resolution is “to come back next year.”

"[The American people] understand that we're in a better position than any country in the world to lead the world."

"We're coming back, and it's about time," Biden said.

Why It Matters: Trump, along with former first lady Melania Trump, welcomed 2024 with a performance by 90s rapper Vanilla Ice and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-themed event at his Mar-a-Lago estate. Prior to the New Year, Trump disseminated a message insinuating that Biden won't "make it to the gate" come November.

As the race for presidential election 2024 heats up, the Republican party front-runner is in the middle of serious legal woes. According to a long-time US attorney, Glenn Kirschner, Trump’s odds of conviction in 2024 are “extremely high.”

Trump is slated to face 91 charges across four trials, with the first case, tied to his alleged role in the Jan. 6 insurrection, to commence on March 4th.
