Palmplug unveiled its latest wearable technology on the eve of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024. It is a wearable glove that is aimed at helping stroke patients game, but it also promises further health benefits.
What Happened: Palmplug's new wearable glove tracks hand movements with sensors sitting atop each finger and thumb, with the primary sensor resting on the wrist.
All the sensors are connected and provide real-time feedback, which could be useful for people with reduced sensory movement.
All the sensors have high-fidelity motion capture sensors, promising to mimic the natural movement of fingers.
To let the user know that an intended motion has been captured, the Palmplug One glove comes with haptic feedback. The company also says that there are different vibration feedbacks depending on the action that is detected, so the glove allows for a wide range of actions.
For those with sensory processing issues, Palmplug also has visual cues in each of the sensors the glove comes with.
Beyond just stroke patients, the Palmplug glove could prove to be useful for virtual reality applications. Its sensory detection technology could also come in handy for playing VR games.
Health Benefits In Tow: Palmplug also has a health game that is designed to help patients regain their mobility. Gamification can be useful not just for stroke patients but also for accident victims and other people who are on the recovery path.
