Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast Auto VFS has debuted its first-ever electric pickup truck concept, the VF Wild, at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
What Happened: As reported in a press release on Tuesday, the VF Wild, with its length of 209 inches and width of 79 inches, falls into the mid-size pickup category. Its flexible bed size, combined with a power-folding mid-gate, extends the bed length from 5 to 8 feet, making it the segment’s largest bed with the rear seats folded down. The vehicle’s design also features a panoramic glass roof and digital side mirrors to improve aerodynamics.
The concept was developed in collaboration with Australian design studio Gomitiv and is themed “Fluid Dynamism,” inspired by the flowing motion of a superhero’s cape in the wind.
Why It Matters: This announcement comes shortly after a recent leadership overhaul at VinFast, which saw founder Pham Nhat Vuong assuming the CEO role. In line with the company’s new direction, VinFast recently signed agreements with five dealers in the U.S. to propel sales, marking an ambitious new chapter for the company.
Additionally, VinFast has been making significant strides in its U.S. expansion. The company recently inked deals with five dealerships in the U.S. to boost sales, marking the beginning of its retail operations in the country. The introduction of the VF Wild could further bolster VinFast’s presence in the U.S. electric vehicle market.
The VF Wild concept represents a significant move for VinFast, aligning with its mission to make high-quality, sustainable EVs accessible to a wider market. With this new product, the company aims to enter the fast-growing electric pickup truck market, reflecting its commitment to a green future for all.
With the VF Wild, VinFast envisions a future where electric mobility is universally accessible, encouraging customers to embrace the beauty of nature outside urban environments.
