In a recent internal memo, Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) CEO Sundar Pichai reportedly informed the company’s employees to brace for more job cuts in 2024. This announcement follows a series of layoffs across various departments.
What Happened: Pichai, in an internal memo on Wednesday, warned of more cuts to come, reported The Verge. Since Jan. 10, Google has laid off over a thousand employees from different departments.
Pichai stated, “We have ambitious goals and will be investing in our big priorities this year. The reality is that to create the capacity for this investment, we have to make tough choices.”
He explained that the layoffs are aimed at simplifying execution and driving velocity in certain areas. Pichai also noted that some teams will continue to make resource allocation decisions throughout the year, potentially impacting more roles.
