U.S. stocks traded mixed, with the Dow Jones index falling around 70 points on Tuesday.

Shares of Verizon Communications Inc. VZ rose during Tuesday’s session following better-than-expected fourth-quarter financial results.

It clocked a sales decline of 0.3% year-on-year to $35.13 billion, beating the consensus of $34.64 billion. Adjusted EPS of $1.08 beat the consensus of $1.07.

Verizon shares gained 5.7% to $41.85 on Tuesday.

  • Spirit Airlines, Inc. SAVE gained 13.2% to $9.03. Spirit Airlines and JetBlue announced that they will appeal a judge's ruling that blocked their proposed merger.
  • Bilibili Inc. BILI rose 12.4% to $10.36.

  • Alibaba Group Holding Limited BABA rose 7.7% to $73.94. Shares of Chinese stocks traded higher following reports suggesting China is considering a stock market rescue package.
  • GATX Corporation GATX surged 7.6% to $127.64 following upbeat earnings.
  • Baidu, Inc. BIDU rose 7.3% to $107.02 following reports suggesting China is considering a stock market rescue package.
  • XPeng Inc. XPEV gained 7% to $9.99. Shares of Chinese stocks traded higher following reports suggesting China is considering a stock market rescue package.
  • NetEase, Inc. NTES rose 7% to $97.24 after China's gaming regulator removed draft rules from its website, which were proposed to limit spending and rewards that promote video game playing.
