Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Tucker Carlson's Russian President Interview: 'An Amuse Douche If You Will'

Jimmy Kimmel took a dig at Tucker Carlson‘s interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling it a light and amusing exchange.

What Happened: Kimmel, on his late-night show, ridiculed Carlson’s interview with Putin, reported HuffPost. Kimmel quipped that instead of being a substantial meal for Putin, Carlson turned out to be “more of an hors d’oeuvre, an amuse douche if you will.”

“Very funny to me that one of the most evil and anti-American people alive finally met Tucker Carlson, who’s been kissing his a** so long they had to have a squeegee on hand to keep it dry, and Putin’s takeaway was, ‘Yeah, this guy sucks,'” Kimmel said.

Why It Matters: The interview between Putin and Carlson has been the subject of widespread attention. Historians have expressed concerns about Putin’s mental state following the two-hour interview, where he presented his version of Russian history to disprove Ukraine's sovereignty.

Critics have also criticized Carlson for playing into Putin’s hands, with former FBI agent Frank Figliuzzi suggesting that the Russian president chose Carlson for the interview because he knew Carlson would not challenge him.

Putin himself expressed dissatisfaction with the interview, stating that he had expected a more confrontational approach from Carlson.
