Earlier this week, Tesla released a nearly 1.5-minute video showcasing its Cybertruck traversing the challenging Hell’s Revenge trail in Moab, Utah. The 6.5-mile trail is known for its hazardous terrain and is recommended only for experienced drivers.
Conquering The Climb:
The video depicts the Cybertruck navigating the trail’s steep and rocky sections with apparent ease.
Wes Morrill, Tesla’s Cybertruck lead engineer, commented that the company is “sharpening the pencil for Off-Road controls” which will be rolled out to existing Cybertrucks via an over-the-air (OTA) update.
Morrill further clarified that while the Tri-motor Cybertruck featured in the video handled the trail effortlessly, two dual-motor versions also successfully completed the climb, though he acknowledged that tackling the trail without differential lockers requires a higher level of skill.
Built For The Rough Stuff:
Tesla emphasizes the Cybertruck’s suitability for any terrain through its website descriptions. Features like electronically adaptive air suspension and a ground clearance of up to 16 inches contribute to its off-road capability. Additionally, the stainless steel exterior enhances dent and damage resistance, while the armored glass is designed to withstand the impact of Class 4 hail.
Beyond Earthly Challenges?
Elon Musk further fueled the Cybertruck’s adventurous image by sharing a picture on Wednesday depicting the vehicle in an icy landscape, suggesting its potential to thrive on the fictional Star Wars ice planet Hoth.
