Iran Vows Retaliatory Action Against Israel For Syria Embassy Attack: 'The Evil Regime Made A Mistake And Must Be Punished'

In a recent development that could escalate tensions in the Middle East, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, has declared that Israel must face consequences for its actions against the Iranian embassy in Syria.

What Happened: Khamenei called for Israel to be punished for its Apr. 1 airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Syria, Reuters reported on Wednesday. In a speech marking the end of Ramadan, Khamenei stated that the attack on the consulate was akin to an attack on Iran itself.

“The evil regime made a mistake and must be punished and it shall be,” he said.

The airstrike, which is believed to have been carried out by Israeli warplanes, led to the death of seven Iranian military advisors. In a stern response, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz warned that any attack by Iran from its territory would result in an Israeli counterattack on Iran. Katz’s statement was released via social media, signaling an increased state of alert.
