Apple Inc.'s AAPL highly anticipated Siri upgrade powered by new artificial intelligence technology will reportedly not be available, even in developer beta, until 2025.
What Happened: Apple's recent iOS 18 betas have introduced several new features. However, the significant AI features, including the major Siri upgrade, are yet to be seen.
Leaks before the WWDC had given a glimpse of what to expect from the revamped intelligent assistant, which was confirmed during the keynote presentation. The improvements are expected to make Siri understand context more like a human.
However, despite the release of upcoming new iPhones in September, buyers will have to wait longer to experience the smarter Siri, reported Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Even those using the developer beta of iOS 18 are unlikely to access the new Siri this year. Siri features are expected to enter beta testing for developers in January and debut publicly around spring as part of an iOS 18.4 upgrade.
Other features, including a new design and ChatGPT integration, will come later this year.

Why It Matters: The delay in Siri’s upgrade comes after a series of events that had raised expectations.
Deepwater Asset Management’s Gene Munster predicted that the integration of Microsoft Corp.-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT on the iPhone would be the “biggest upgrade in Siri’s 13-year history.”
Apple unveiled a range of AI integrations into its core apps for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, utilizing both its large language models as well as OpenAI's technologies.
However, many of the on-device AI features require at least the iPhone 15 Pro, which uses the A17 Pro chipset.
In June, Apple revealed its partnership with Microsoft Corp.-backed OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 Sequoia. The integration was part of Apple's broader AI strategy, which includes using OpenAI's technology for AI writing summaries across its operating systems.
