Maye Musk Is A 'Proud Mom' As Son's X Platform Scores A Win Over Mark Zuckerberg's Instagram And Facebook: Elon Musk Says 'There Is Still Limited Understanding…'

On Wednesday, Elon Musk said that his social media platform X, formerly Twitter, has surpassed Meta Platforms Inc.’s META Facebook and Instagram in terms of traffic, citing Similarweb.

What Happened: According to the information shared by Musk citing Similarweb, a traffic monitoring site, X recorded 13.14 billion views in June, surpassing Facebook’s 12.44 billion and Instagram’s 5.798 billion.

The platform also saw nearly three times the number of unique visitors than Facebook. “X had 3.127 billion unique visitors. Facebook had 1.050 billion unique visitors. Instagram had 919 million unique visitors.”

Following the announcement, Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, expressed her pride and gratitude on the platform. She used the hashtag “proud mom” saying thank you to her son for the social media platform.

Musk responded, acknowledging that the platform’s potential is still not fully understood. “There is still limited understanding of where this platform will end up,” he replied to May Musk’s post.

Why It Matters: Previously, in March this year, it was reported that X was losing users at an alarming rate, with a significant decrease in the number of daily active users.

Earlier this month, it also came to users’ attention that X was using posts for training xAI's Grok chatbot, a move that raised privacy concerns.

Musk’s social media platform has also removed emojis associated with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, causing a stir among the crypto community. In July 2024, X was found in violation of the EU's online content law, facing potential fines.
