U.S. stocks were mixed, with the Dow Jones index falling around 50 points on Thursday.

Shares of Signet Jewelers Limited SIG rose sharply during Thursday's session after reporting better-than-expected second-quarter earnings and stronger than anticipated third-quarter revenue outlook.

Signet reportedasecond-quarter sales decline of 7.6% year-on-year to $1.49 billion, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $1.50 billion. Adjusted EPS of $1.25 beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.14.

Signet Jewelers shares jumped 18.8% to $92.83 on Thursday.

  • Medical Properties Trust, Inc. MPW rose 7.1% to $5.16 after the company announced it reached a global settlement agreement that restored its control over its real estate and severed its relationship with Steward Health Care.
  • Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. WBD gained 7.1% to $7.44.
