What's Going On With Delta, United and American Airlines Shares Monday?

Delta Air Lines, Inc. DAL, United Airlines Holdings, Inc. UAL and American Airlines Group, Inc. AAL are all anticipated to report 2024 fiscal year third quarter earnings within the next two weeks.

What To Know: Analysts estimate that American will report revenue of $13.44 billion and EPS of 8 cents. For United, analysts estimate $14.78 billion in revenue and EPS of $3.08, while Delta is projected to report revenue of $14.70 billion and EPS of $1.54.

Delta is anticipated to report earnings on Thursday and hold its investor day on November 20. Bank of America stated, in a note, that it believes this calendar set up may cause Delta to issue conservative guidance for the fourth quarter come Thursday. On the flip side, the bank said that Delta could, “guide appropriately to focus investor day content on the longer-term outlook.”

Back In July, American Airlines estimated its third quarter EPS to be approximately breakeven. Bank of America believes American will do better than breakeven, estimating third quarter EPS of 26 cents. The bank said that its EPS forecast is driven by favorable moves in fuel and unit revenues.

The bank noted that many United Airlines investors anticipate capital returns may be imminent, particularly through share repurchases. Bank of America expressed uncertainty about the exact timing, suggesting it could be as early as mid-October or possibly delayed until 2025.

Price Action: At the time of publication, American stock is trading 0.17% higher at $11.53, Delta stock is moving 0.49% lower at $49.04 and United shares are trading 0.51% higher at $58.52, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
